What commitment does a district or school make to Primary Source?

  • To add or enrich units or courses on U.S. and world history and humanities at all possible grade levels and to develop student learning related to China, global studies, and inclusive American history
  • To establish a task force of teachers who have participated in Primary Source seminars or courses who are both eager to help colleagues benefit from this involvement and invested in helping embed international content in the curriculum
  • To develop China curriculum at 3 levels, K-12; work towards establishing a Chinese language program, an exchange program, and an East Asian Studies high school elective as a resource for the rest of the district
  • To select participants in seminars, courses, and study tours as well as assist with the organization of the 10-hour workshop series (Model A) or the 2 1/2 hour curriculum development seminar (Model B)
  • To provide substitute teachers for participants in weekday seminars and study tours
  • To encourage teachers to use Primary Source's Clara Hicks Library. Teachers from partnership districts have unlimited borrowing privileges from the unique collection of books, videos, and teacher-developed curricula in the library
  • To encourage teachers to share their learning with colleagues once they have completed a program
