Board of Directors

Buzz Birnbaum is a realtor with Hammond Residential Real Estate in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Navy for eleven years, retiring as a Commander, and also worked in the apparel industry.

 

Nannette C. Braucher is a retired teacher and school administrator. She has served as an elementary school principal in Belmont, director of curriculum, instruction, and staff development in Wellesley, and as a principal and teacher in Newton, and in San Ramon, California.

Gerald Campbell, CFA, traveled to China with Primary Source in 2005. He is a retired senior portfolio manager at Gartmore UK and specializes in management of both hedge and mutual fund strategy. Prior to this position he has worked at Numeric Investors, Putnam Investments, Bank of Boston and Computervision. Campbell is a major contributor to the finance subcommittee of the Primary Source board. A graduate of Boston College, Campbell received two masters degrees from Bentley College and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Gerald Campell

Victoria Diez-Canseco has over 15 years experience as an organizational development consultant to senior staff of several companies including those in health, finance, and technology. During her varied career, she co-founded Value Integration Consulting, and before that she led Human Systems Consulting Group. A collaborative and creative problem-solver, Vicki also is interested in chamber music, does landscape painting, and is a Certified Practitioner and Self-Help Instructor of Jin Shin Jyutsu healing arts.

Katherine J. Fick, JD, is an attorney at IBM Software Group and brings substantial community experience to her role as board member at Primary Source. In her previous position as an associate at Foley Hoag LLP, she worked pro bono with the Political Asylum/Immigration Project, the Family Advocacy Program at Boston Medical Center, and the Domestic Violence Project. She also served as a writing coach with Citizen Schools' Eighth Grade Academy and as a coach in the Mock Trial Program at the Federal Courthouse. Fick is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, JD, 2002, and Calvin College, BA, English and Political Science, 1999.

Susan Goldberg has been the President of Northeast Training Group, Inc. (NTGI) since 1995. Ms. Goldberg has over 30 years experience as a teacher, systems analyst, salesperson, sales manager, and President and CEO of Northeast Training Group Inc. Northeast Training Group, Inc made the list of the Boston Business Journal's 20 largest Computer/software Training Companies in Massachusetts in 2008 8th year in a row.

Ms. Goldberg is often quoted in publications such as Computer World, Inside Technology Training, Service News, eWeek, Boston Business Journal, and Amtrak's Arrive magazine. She also authored a monthly column for Service News. In 2000 and 2001 Ms. Goldberg chaired the Information Technology Training Conference in Newport, Rhode Island. In May 2001, she was the guest of the Technion in Israel as a participant in an Advanced Leadership program.

Rosemary Hoey Pisano, EdM, is a retired school teacher with over 25 years experience teaching grades 4-8. Most recently she served as Project Coordinator for the Massachusetts Initiative for International Studies and as a Mediator in the Harvard Mediation Program.

Claudette Hunt, MBA, is president of Murray's Caribbean Foods, Inc., which provides healthy and delicious foods, elegant table linen, and dining services to create a Caribbean experience at home. She has worked in business development across the Americas supporting the manufacturing, software, telecom, and finance industries.

 

Elizabeth Lewis Goodman, MAT, MLIS, "I've spent close to 40 years in education, and sometimes I am in despair about what is happening to our schools," says new board member, Elizabeth Lewis She adds, "But, when I work with Primary Source, I consistently find that educators are supported in broadening their vision, are exposed to the finest scholarship, and are able to make the world come alive for their students." Deeply devoted to improving instruction, creating dynamic, responsive curriculum, and healthy school cultures, Elizabeth most recently served as director of curriculum and instruction for the Canton Public Schools.

Mary M. Newmann joins the Primary Source Board after recently ending a distinguished career in education leadership. She is a former head of school at Cambridge Friends School, Buckingham, Browne & Nichols School, and the Town School (New York City). She received an MSW from New York University, an MA from Bank Street College of Education, and a BA from Mount Holyoke College.

 

Evelyne Vallet was raised in both Europe and the United States. She received her BS from the Université d'Orsay in Paris and her PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Geneva. After doing laboratory research in Geneva, she moved to Germany where she was a mediator for the French-German school of Freiburg. Since then, she has been an advocate for global education, creating a foreign language program for two school districts in NJ, working as an ESL tutor, and creating links between cities in France and the U.S. She is currently a college adviser specializing in international students.

 

Anne Watt, EdD, a co-founder of Primary Source, joined the board in 2006, following 17 years of distinguished service to cultivating the organization she and Anna Roelofs established formally in 1989. With a deep belief in the importance of adult development in transforming education, Anne has spent many years providing educators with rich learning experiences about important cultures of the world, often overlooked by traditional curriculum. Her deep passion, determination, and organizational skills have been instrumental to Primary Source's development to help teachers learn about new intellectual content and ideas for materials and pedagogy. Prior to her work with Primary Source, Anne worked in race relations, teaching, and school administration. She received her undergraduate degree from Radcliffe College, a master's degree from Bank Street College of Education, and a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts.

Matt Zalosh is a portfolio manager at Boston Common Asset Management, a socially responsible investment firm. He manages domestic and international accounts and is responsible for investment research on the financial services and healthcare sectors. Matt began his career at State Street Research and Management in Boston over 10 years ago. From 1997 to 2001, Matt worked at Dodge & Cox in San Francisco, where he covered banks and REITS and helped the firm launch its international mutual fund. Matt received his BA, cum laude, in Economics and International Studies from Colby College, and has an MA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where he specialized in emerging markets and worked on development consulting projects in Mexico and Ecuador.
