Primary Source Announces Partnership With EdSteps

edsteps

Primary Source has joined in partnership with EdSteps to help develop new resources for teaching about the world and assessing students' global competence.

Once developed, EdSteps will be an online resource center for teaching and assessment designed to help educators review student progress in areas that are typically difficult and costly to assess. Student work from each of five key skill areas (global competence, writing, creativity, analyzing information, and problem solving) will be presented in a continuum — a gradual progression — from emerging to accomplished work.

These models will allow teachers, parents, and students themselves to measure individual students' progress over time and answer questions about whether students are on track to success. The continuums' work samples will help teachers, parents, and students answer a central question for student growth: Where is a particular student now, and what should he or she do to improve?

In support of EdSteps' work to develop better tools for examining students' knowledge and understanding, Primary Source is inviting teachers to contribute student work to EdSteps in the areas of global competence and writing. As an added incentive, EdSteps runs a bimonthly drawing for a $150 gift card. Anyone who registers for the site, submits work, or rates work is eligible to win!
