Primary Source invites you to invest in its mission of educating for global understanding. While there are several ways to financially support our organization, participation in the Primary Source Fund is an easy method to help us meet our daily objectives. Donors to this Fund are invited to a variety of educational programs such as the Education for Global Understanding annual lecture series, which has featured former African presidents, authors, and ambassadors, as well as teachers who have benefitted from Primary Source's programs. Other methods of giving include:
- Matching Gifts Many companies encourage their employees to make charitable contributions through matching gifts. Some companies even match by the ratio of $5 for every $1 given. To find out if your company sponsors a matching gifts program, please contact your human resources office.
- Gifts of securities A gift of appreciated securities can have significant tax benefits for donors. To give a gift of stock, call the development office and inform us about the transfer and what type off stock you are transferring.
- Foundation and Corporate Giving Foundation and corporate giving has been instrumental to Primary Source's growth and success. Foundations committed to strengthening education and responding to the needs of diverse youth, find the organization an effective provider of professional development services that directly impact student achievement. Corporations whose business encompasses international trade, also recognize the value of the organization's preparation of students who can competently engage with people from different cultures. Corporations, mindful of the global marketplace and responsive to changing demographics at home and around the world, recognize the value of international content in the K - 12 school curriculum. Grants to Primary Source prepare a globally and cultural competent future work force. - Major and Planned Giving Major and planned gifts are vital to advance Primary Source's program development. This support makes possible the organization's response to changing world circumstances and teacher needs. For example, following the September 11 crisis, Primary Source established its Middle East Program. When teachers from Boston schools sought professional development on contemporary West Africa, Primary Source responded with the course Continuity and Change in West Africa. Major gifts are needed to:
- Strengthen Africa Program offerings including initiating a travel study tour to this region.
- Strengthen Middle East Program offerings including initiating a travel study tour to this region.
- Build interactive web resources to augment teachers' content knowledge and bring new resources to the classroom.
- Establish and strengthen Primary Source programs on India and Latin America.
- Provide funding to seed program partnerships, especially in urban and high-needs districts.
- A Bequest is a unique and easy way to structure a gift to Primary Source. If you would like to make a bequest, simply include the following language in your will: I give {(____dollars) or (____percent of the residue of my estate)} to Primary Source, a Massachusetts educational charitable corporation.
