Remembering 9/11: Filmmaker Beth Murphy Inspires Teachers and Students

In addition to this fall's screening and discussion of the documentary film Beyond Belief, Primary Source brought together teachers and students from across the country for an online conversation with filmmaker Beth Murphy. Beth shared stories about the making of the film and her own thoughts about why it is important to learn about the world.

This special event provided participants the opportunity to view the film in advance and join other viewers for a one-hour webinar to discuss their reactions and ask questions. When asked about the highlights of the experience, one teacher wrote that she gained "insights into what life is like today for Afghanistan's widows, along with ideas for how students can act on their awareness of issues in other parts of the world."

To expand your own knowledge about this topic, view a recording of the webinar, find teaching resources, and explore a Primary Source World curriculum guide on modern Afghanistan.

K-12 educators are invited to join us on Wednesday, November 30th for the third and final webinar in our "Introduction to Afghan Politics, Religion, and Culture" series.
