Global Education Massachusetts Consulate Event

More than 130 guests attended Global Education Massachusetts and Primary Source's "Creating Global Schools: A Conversation with the International Community" event on May 12. Additional support was provided by the United Nations Association of Greater Boston. The meeting was hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and featured a panel of consular representatives from Cape Verde, Japan, Mexico, and Spain.

Consul General Maria de Jesus Mascarenhas of Cape Verde, Deputy Consul General Hisashi Nakatomi of Japan, Consul General Dr. Fernando Estrada Sámano of Mexico, and Education Advisor to the Spanish Consul General Francisco García Díez all offered their perspectives on international education. The panelists discussed educational traditions and challenges in their respective countries and shared their thoughts about Massachusetts' efforts to internationalize schools.

Audience members included leaders from the education, policy, business, and international communities of Massachusetts. The event helped to further the discussion surrounding global education in the state and build new relationships between the consulates and schools. Global Education Massachusetts and Primary Source look forward to working more closely with the more than 20 foreign consulates in the Boston area in future initiatives.
