Primary Source Kicks Off Global Read to Help Children in Need
Mark your calendars for December 1st at 4:00 p.m. EST, when readers in your community and around the world will come together for a live, web-based discussion of Girl in Translation with author Jean Kwok.
High school students and adults are invited to engage with this coming-of-age story about a young girl and her mother who emigrate from Hong Kong to live in Brooklyn in the 1980s. Exploring themes of identity, race, family, adolescence, and migration, this novel won a 2011 Alex Award as one of the 10 best adult books that appeal to teen audiences.
Stay tuned for a toolkit and resources including ways to get your community involved, ideas for classroom activities, and more!
