Global Read to Culminate in Online Discussion with Author Jean Kwokgirlintranslation

Educators, students, and community members from across the country have already registered for the unique opportunity to chat with celebrated author Jean Kwok. On December 1st at 4:00 p.m. EST, participants in this fall's Global Read will discuss Girl in Translation, a moving coming-of-age story that explores themes of identity, race, family, adolescence, and migration.

When asked what she is looking forward to about this online book discussion, Kwok said "I am really looking forward to the chance to connect with readers, students and educators on an international level.…I love the idea of joining educators, scholars and different communities in the discussion of my book and eagerly anticipate any questions or comments that readers have. So many rich new ideas can spring from inter-cultural, inter-continental connections like this."

In addition to hosting an online discussion of Girl in Translation, Primary Source is pleased to share a Teacher Toolkit designed to support teachers and students in their reading of the book. This free online resource includes discussion questions, classroom activities, supplemental reading recommendations, and writing prompts, all developed by Primary Source staff specifically for use with students.

As part of our Global Read, Primary Source is proud to partner with the Pearson Foundation and We Give Books to donate books to children in need, just by reading a free children's book online. The Primary Source Global Read / We Give Books campaign was highly successful, donating 500 books to children in Asia in just five days.

There is still time to join this Global Read and register for the online discussion with author Jean Kwok on Thursday, December 1st. You'll have the chance to ask questions, gain new insights, and connect with other interested readers.

Register now for this special opportunity.
