Educators seeking resources to teach about an increasingly interconnected world are welcome to use the Clara Hicks Resource Library at Primary Source. The Library contains more than 7,000 items focusing on Primary Source's program areas and represents multiple disciplines. The Library is constantly expanding in response to the needs of participants in our programs.

The collection includes:

  • published and teacher-created curriculum materials
  • reference works
  • scholarly books on history and the humanities
  • nonfiction for adults and children
  • fiction for adults and children
  • teaching kits
  • documentary and feature films on DVD and VHS
  • maps.

A reference librarian is available to answer questions in-person or via phone or email. Please call ahead to plan a visit to our library so that you can make effective use of our staff and materials. We have over 60 online resource guides and curriculum sets available online for teachers. You may also search the library catalog via the website. The Library is available for use by all educators, but a library card is necessary to borrow materials. Visit our Get a Library Card page to learn about and sign up for borrowing privileges.

The Library is a comfortable space to work. We encourage teachers to hold departmental meetings and curriculum planning sessions in our Library as availability allows. Wireless Internet access is available, so feel free to bring a laptop with a wireless network card as you take advantage of Primary Source's collections.
