New Distance-Learning Partnerships AnnouncedSchools across the country now have a new way to take advantage of Primary Source's programs and resources for teachers. Since 2002, Primary Source has offered partnership packages of courses, study tours, and resources to schools in Massachusetts and New England. Through the new "21st Century Professional Development" partnerships, public school districts, and independent schools can access a suite of online courses and workshops on global topics. Since the introduction of online courses in 2009, Primary Source has significantly expanded in this new direction. The 2010-2011 season will include seats in six graduate-level online courses on ancient China, modern China, and U.S. history, as well as a series of one-hour introductory webinars on global education, international books and films, and global environmental issues. Teachers and administrators in participating schools will still have the opportunity to join Primary Source's traditional programs through reserved seats in summer institutes, and subsidized lodging in the Boston area will be provided to help those coming from long distances. Additionally, educators who complete a graduate level online course on a world region become eligible to travel on a Primary Source study tour abroad. The 21st Century Professional Development partnership is available to schools situated 35 miles or more from Primary Source's offices in Watertown, Massachusetts.
