Massachusetts Poetry Out Loud
Join the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Huntington Theatre Co., and members of the state Legislature's Cultural Caucus to celebrate March is Arts Education Month with the extraordinary group of student finalists for the Massachusetts Poetry Out Loud recitation competition. The event will take place Tuesday, March 30 at 4:00 p.m. in Hearing Room B2 at the State House.

Cambodian Refugee Poetry Book Launch
On Thursday, April 1 from 5:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m., Middlesex Community College will host a free launch party for a new collection of poems written by a recently departed Cambodian Buddhist monk in Lowell. The bilingual book, O! Maha Mount Dangret, was translated by Samkhann Khoeun and will be featured in a national tour following the launch.

Summer 2010 at UMass Boston's China Program Center
Students, teachers of Chinese, parents, and business leaders will find a number of learning opportunities this summer at UMass Boston's China Program Center. Upcoming programs include a STARTALK Mandarin Language Summer Camp for students in grades 6-12, a seminar on conducting business in China, and tours of China for a variety of audiences.

Apply for a Global Understanding Teaching Award
Each year, the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) gives an award to a social studies educator in honor of "notable contributions in helping social studies students increase their understanding of the world." With support from the Longview Foundation, the winning educator will be honored during the annual NCSS conference in November 2010.

Call to Teachers: Teaching with Primary Sources Mentor Advisory Group
The Library of Congress is seeking K-12 teacher leaders to help with its planned national teacher network. The Library of Congress Teacher Network will provide teachers nationwide with online and local opportunities to learn collaboratively about teaching with primary sources.
