Primary Source Awarded Grant from Theodore Edson Parker FoundationThe Theodore Edson Parker Foundation has awarded funding to Primary Source to enable a group of Lowell teachers to travel to Vietnam and Cambodia on a summer 2008 study tour. The tour is an integral part of Primary Source's efforts to incorporate Southeast Asia, particularly Cambodia, into the curriculum of the Lowell Public Schools. The support of the Parker Foundation, which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all Lowell residents, will ensure that more teachers have the curriculum resources, content knowledge, and cultural literacy they need to work with Lowell's large Cambodian student population. Several other foundations, including the Freeman Foundation, Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, the Nathaniel & Elizabeth Stevens Foundation, and Winn Development, have also provided funding for Primary Source's Cambodia and Vietnam programs. |
