Primary Source Awarded Grants for Latin America and Asia ProgramsPrimary Source has recently received grant funding in support of our Latin America and Asia programs for educators. The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, a charitable group dedicated to strengthening the nation's future through education, awarded a three-year grant for the development of Primary Source's Latin America programs. Primary Source has begun work on Latin America in response to the clear need educators have expressed for professional development on this region's history and culture. Despite the growing Latino and Caribbean population in Massachusetts, there are very few resources available for teachers looking for curriculum support. The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations' grant will provide for a school year seminar series, a summer institute, single day workshops, in-district programs, a book discussion group, and library resources related to Latin America. The Freeman Foundation, which has supported Primary Source for more than ten years, has awarded a two-year grant for East and Southeast Asia programs. The grant will help to provide for continued seminars, study tours, in-district workshops, and other coursework on China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. |
