Primary Source a Key Player in National Conference on China-U.S. Education

For over twenty years, Primary Source has been a leader in teaching and learning about China for K-12 educators. Drawing on this expertise, we are proud to have been the regional partner of this year's National Chinese Language Conference, held in Boston on April 7-9, 2013. In collaboration with Asia Society and the College Board, two highly respected international organizations, Primary Source worked with local partners to broadcast the important work being done in our local schools and communities to bring Chinese language, history, and culture to students.

Primary Source's annual book group wrapped up last week with a discussion of Kwei Quartey's Children of the Street, a crime detective novel set in Accra, Ghana. This year's book group participants read mysteries set in Japan, Ottoman Turkey, Chile, India, and Ghana. Using mysteries as a vehicle to explore cultures around the world, book discussions focused on unique cultural aspects of each novel as well as the historical context. Below is a list of this year's book group selections with summaries. All books are available from the Primary Source Library.
