What is a typical day like for you?
Well, since I am starting in the midst of a global pandemic I am not sure that anything is typical right now! But, I collaborate with the amazing team at Primary Source to write curriculum for a variety of projects and work to plan and organize engaging learning opportunities for teachers.

Tell us about your background and what brought you to Primary Source.
I come from a long line of educators who have inspired my intellectual curiosity and interest in the histories and cultures of the world. Before joining Primary Source, I spent 17 years as a high school Social Studies teacher in New York and Massachusetts. Planning curriculum has always been one of my favorite parts of teaching. I love the process of learning about a topic and then figuring out the best way to make it inspiring and engaging for students. As a classroom teacher, I took more than a dozen Primary Source courses that enhanced my teaching of both World and American History. I am excited to be able to create those same experiences and resources for educators in my role as a Program Director. I hold a B.A. in American Studies from Smith College and received my masters degree in teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

What inspires you to do this work?
High quality teaching resources and strategies that support teachers in their work are so important to the lives of students and the future of our democracy and planet. I believe that high quality education is foundational to peace and justice in the global community.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I love travelling with my husband and two daughters and exploring new places, foods and cultures. My love of nature is cultivated by gardening and outdoor running, swimming and biking.

Where in the world would you most like to visit?
Oh gosh, that’s a hard one. I have been fascinated by the city of Isfahan, since I first taught about the Safavid Empire in Sharon. So, that would be top on my list.
