Josh Cracraft brings to Primary Source a background in teaching, research, and global education. He began working in education after college, when he spent two years in the JET Program teaching EFL in public high schools in Kyoto, Japan. Upon returning to the US, he worked as an editor at Barnes & Noble, where he developed print and digital resources in history, literature, and the social sciences for high school and college students. More recently, he worked as the assistant director of the International & Global Studies program at Brandeis University and as the director of strategy and operations at the Tobin Project, a nonprofit social science research organization.

As a graduate student in history, Josh lived briefly in southern India and conducted archival research in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. He has also traveled widely throughout the United States, Asia, and parts of the Middle East. He has an AB in Government from Harvard and a PhD in American History from Brandeis, where he specialized in early American, Native American, and American legal history.
