Building Blocks for Global Citizenship

F.A.Q.s

What are the Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules?
The Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules are a series of six, independent courses on foundational topics such as global learning, globalization, global citizenship skills, global competency and the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, culturally responsive practice, and connecting to the world.

What will I learn in the Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules?
Modules contain videos, readings, and interactive components to build content knowledge and present teaching strategies, approaches, and resources for integrating global learning into classroom and school curriculum.

Who should take the Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules?
The Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules are designed for educators of all grade levels and subjects. Administrators and other school staff will also find the content relevant to their work.

How many modules can I take?
As many as you like. You can take one module, all six modules, or any number in between.

How long will it take to complete the Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules?
Each module is designed to take one hour to complete. The modules are self-paced; you may start or stop your work at any point.

How long do I have to complete each module?
Once you enroll in a specific module, you have 60 days to complete it. If you are signed up to take all six modules, you have one year to complete them all.

What will I receive for completing each module?
You will receive a certificate immediately upon the completion of each module.

Can I earn Professional Development Points (PDPs) or Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for these modules?
Yes, it is possible to earn 10 PDPs/CEUs by completing all six Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules and a short additional assignment. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate documenting your work. We are unable to issue PDPs/CEUs for individual modules.

How much do the Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules cost?
Each Building Blocks for Global Citizenship module costs $15. There is a special discount price of $75 if you sign up to take all six modules (click here for instructions on purchasing the set). Schools and school districts interested in purchasing the modules for multiple educators should contact Primary Source for special group rates.

How do I sign up for the Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules?
Any educator may sign up for the modules through the Building Blocks course catalog. There you can create a user account and pay by credit card through PayPal. If you are an educator in a Primary Source partner district, you may be able to take the modules through your partnership benefits. Contact your district liaison to inquire about availability.

How are the Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules different from other Primary Source online courses?
Unlike Primary Source’s four- and eight-week online courses, the Building Blocks for Global Citizenship modules are non-facilitated, self-paced learning experiences designed in convenient, small segments.

I want my whole department, learning team, or school to take the Building Blocks for Global Citizenship
modules together. Is this possible?
The self-directed modules involve readings and interactive digital resources; we recommend individuals have their own username and device to best engage with the content. Groups can take advantage of additional interactive discussion forums and virtual sessions to facilitate conversations within the course learning management system or hold those conversations in face-to-face settings. Contact Primary Source for more information on working in groups.
