Creating and designing solutions to global challenges and problems requires an integrated, interdisciplinary approach where individuals must think broadly about the global dimensions of issues and work collectively with others from different geographic regions and cultural backgrounds. This program will explore the connections between STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects and global education for elementary and middle school grades. Drawing upon the new Massachusetts curriculum frameworks for Science and Technology/Engineering, we will introduce conceptual frameworks for globalizing STEM curriculum, explore problem-based learning approaches that can be used to investigate global issues through the various STEM disciplines, and incorporate curricular resources that support this type of learning.

Especially for K-8 educators.
