These compelling works for young adult and adult readers-- inspirational or outraged, speculative or satiric-- seek to wake us from complacency into action. Reading selections this year include a lyrical verse-novel for middle-grade readers (Forest World), an international short story collection (I’m With the Bears: Short Stories from a Damaged Plant) and a thrilling environmental parable from the Ecuadorian Amazon (The Old Man Who Read Love Stories.)
