Using Global Texts to Build Common Core Skills: Evidence & Claims

Understanding and constructing evidence-based claims are key skills that students need to develop in order to critically analyze complex texts and build arguments across all disciplines, particularly in addressing topics of global significance. With an emphasis on informational text and argumentative writing, this program explores ways to teach students how to find, analyze, and utilize textual evidence to build and support claims in order to better understand complex, interdisciplinary global issues.
